What kind of bans these are

CS2 accounts can be banned in several different ways, and they are not the same thing. Here is how the 299 banned players on this list break down, and what each ban type actually means.

The headline the numbers keep showing: game bans outnumber VAC bans by roughly seven to one here. Most reported cheaters who get caught are stopped by the game's own detection, not by a classic VAC signature ban. That is the opposite of what most players assume.

How this data is built

What this data can and cannot tell you

• It is not causal. We report accounts; Valve bans them independently. The report-to-ban time measures how early our community noticed, not any effect our reports had.
• The lead-time median excludes the 107 accounts that were already banned when they were first reported here. You cannot lead a ban that already happened.
• Steam gives a ban date for VAC and game bans but not for community- or trade-only bans, so 57 banned accounts have no report-to-ban figure and sit outside the timing stats.
