Cache is in Active Duty and Overpass is out. The Season 5 pool: Cache, Dust 2, Mirage, Inferno, Nuke, Ancient, Anubis.

The reset

Your rating is not wiped. It is compressed toward the ~7,500 median: a 20,000 player restarts around 14,000, a 5,000 player climbs to roughly 6,500.

Placements

Ten placement matches re-establish your visible rating, each counting roughly 4x a regular result. Warm up before you queue.

How the CS2 season rating reset works

At the end of every Premier season, Valve recalibrates every CS Rating instead of wiping it. Community-tracked data across season changes shows ratings being pulled toward a soft median around 7,500: the further above the median you finished, the more you give back, while players who ended below it actually restart slightly higher.

Your new rating stays hidden until you finish ten placement matches. Placements are not a clean slate either. Matchmaking still uses your hidden skill from last season, and each placement result moves your calibration roughly four times as much as a normal match. That is why a bad placement run can leave you 2,000 below where you belong, and a hot streak can put you 1,500 above it. The system corrects toward your true level over the following weeks either way.

Valve never publishes the formula, so this calculator shows a range built from community-tracked reset data instead of a fake-precise single number. Use it to set expectations for the placement grind, not as a guarantee.

Rating reset FAQ

When did CS2 Premier Season 5 start?

Season 4 ended on July 6, 2026, and Season 5 rolled out with the update on July 9, 2026. The Active Duty pool changed with it: Cache is in, Overpass is out.

Do I lose my CS Rating when the season resets?

No, it is not wiped. Ratings are compressed toward the ~7,500 median: a 20,000 player restarts around 14,000, while a 5,000 player comes back around 6,500. You then play ten placement matches to make your new rating visible.

How much do placement matches count?

Community tracking puts each of the ten placements at roughly 4x the rating movement of a regular match, so they decide most of your visible starting point. Treat them seriously and warm up first.

What is the CS2 Season 5 map pool?

Cache, Dust 2, Mirage, Inferno, Nuke, Ancient, and Anubis. Cache replaced Overpass in Active Duty.

Is this my exact new rating?

No. Valve does not publish the reset formula, so this is an estimate modeled on community-tracked data from past resets. Where you actually land depends on your hidden skill and your placement results.
