The IEM Cologne Major ended June 24. In the ten days since NiKo lifted the trophy, the CS2 roster market has been digesting the fallout — and the past week produced moves that will shape the entire summer competitive window.

fnatic Is Now Entirely Ukrainian
Artem "cairne" Mushynskyi signed for fnatic on July 1, completing what is genuinely one of the odder organizational pivots in CS2: fnatic fields five Ukrainians, no exceptions.

cairne arrives from NIP, where he posted a 1.03 rating over six months after strong showings at Inner Circle in 2025. NIP benched him ahead of XSE Pro League, putting him immediately on the market. fnatic moved fast.
The Ukrainian transformation didn't happen overnight. The org started absorbing Passion UA alumni — fEAR and jambo — at the end of 2025, added jackasmo in the same window, and slotted Br4tkO in March. KRIMZ, fnatic's longest-serving player at nearly twelve years, was benched in early June after the team slid from the top 30 to 80th on the VRS. cairne was the final piece.
Twelve years is a long time. KRIMZ's fnatic career spans the peak of Swedish Counter-Strike: IEM Katowice 2015, multiple ESL One titles, lineups that defined what a top-five team looked like for close to a decade. His exit marks the clean end of that national chapter. The team that once featured flusha, JW, olofmeister, and KRiMZ now runs five Ukrainians coached by a Latvian. Say that out loud. It still sounds wrong, and yet here we are.
Can This Roster Actually Compete?
fnatic currently sits 70th on the VRS — deep in irrelevance for a brand that spent years in the top five. fEAR is a serviceable IGL who has never sustained results at the highest tier. cairne showed genuine promise at Inner Circle under a different system. jackasmo and Br4tkO are largely unknown quantities outside regional play.
The lineup does have one practical advantage: communication is solved. Five players from the same country, with overlapping histories in the Ukrainian scene, aren't spending energy on language or calling conventions from scratch. That's not nothing when you're rebuilding from 70th.
fnatic's 1.16 career-rated new rifler has flashed the ceiling. Whether the system around him can translate that into results at a competitive level is the open question. The first real test comes whenever fnatic lands at a tier-two qualifier before BLAST Bounty Summer opens on July 21.

Eternal Fire released Sergiy "DemQQ" Demchenko and Rigon "rigoN" Gashi by mutual agreement on July 1, ending both partnerships after six months.
The Turkish org's 2026 has been one extended restructuring loop. DemQQ and rigoN joined in January alongside Woro2k. April brought Woro2k out and brought in regali and MisteM. Now DemQQ and rigoN are gone too. The current core — jottAAA on loan from Aurora, regali, and MisteM — has two open slots and a team that has hovered outside the VRS top 50 all year without posting a meaningful result at any event that mattered.
The reported next move: NRG's benched Danish rifler Alexander "br0" Bro. NRG moved br0 to the bench after a Stage 1 exit at IEM Cologne, keeping him under contract while the org sorts out its rebuild direction. Eternal Fire is reportedly close to closing the deal. If confirmed, br0 brings the clearest individual upside of any player they've considered — he's flashed above-average output in NRG's structured system, and the question is whether a change of environment unlocks the consistency his raw stats have never quite produced.
The Post-Cologne Pattern
The moves clustering around Cologne's end follow a recognizable cascade. Tier-one teams make one targeted swap. Tier-two orgs use the opening for emergency triage. Displaced mid-table players flow toward whoever needs bodies fastest.
NIP benched r1nkle — who went directly to G2's AWP slot, replacing SunPayus — and cairne in quick succession. fnatic absorbed cairne to complete their Ukrainian rebuild. G2 used r1nkle to upgrade their sniping position at the exact moment a transition became structurally viable. Eternal Fire accelerated a rebuild that was already stalling before Cologne began.
