CS2's Esports Nations Cup regional qualifiers conclude July 19 after 90 nations competed in open FACEIT brackets. Here is what the format means for regular players.
The qualifier most players missed
Counter-Strike 2's Esports Nations Cup regional qualifiers close on July 19. By the time the brackets finish, 24 national teams will have earned spots in Riyadh for November, each one the product of an open FACEIT bracket that any five-stack could enter.
Not an invitational. Not a circuit point system built around existing organizations. Any registered FACEIT account, valid citizenship or residency documentation, and four teammates willing to rep the same flag. According to HLTV's qualifier registration announcement and the Esports Foundation, 90 participating nations competed across 96 national or territorial brackets that ran July 6 through July 16. The Esports Foundation called it the largest open qualifier in its history.
The bracket format: single elimination, best-of-three. Each national qualifier ran up to three days within that window. Winners advanced to the regional stage July 17-19, which is running right now. Ten global regions hand out between one and four slots each: Western Europe and Eastern Europe each receive four, with the remaining 16 split across North America, South America, the Middle East, Central Asia, and the Asian regions. The 24 qualified nations go to Riyadh for November 10-15, 2026, competing for $1,320,000.

The roster rule that reshuffles everything
Each national team can include at most three players from the same VRS-ranked organization. Valve's ranking system covers the established tier of professional clubs, which means France cannot field four Vitality players, Denmark cannot go four-deep into Astralis, and no country can simply transplant an existing top roster under a national flag.
In practice, this produces something CS2 rarely delivers in normal competition: rosters that mix players who have never shared a server in regular play. HLTV's short news for week 28 flagged the UK's Europe West qualifier lineup, which includes smooya alongside players from different organizations. That combination would not exist in any club circuit. It exists here because the format demands it.
Whether mixed national rosters produce higher or lower quality CS2 is genuinely uncertain. A team without shared practice time has a lower coordination ceiling than a club team. But the format is at least honest: country versus country, rosters that reflect who is actually eligible rather than who has the best contract right now.
If you missed it, prepare now
Eligibility was straightforward: a FACEIT account, citizenship or residency documentation for a participating country, and a five-person roster. Registration opened before July 6, and many eligible players only found out through Reddit threads and Discord posts after the brackets had already started.
For the next cycle, two things matter more than most players assume. First, FACEIT's verification process rejects accounts with trust issues. Riyadh in November
The ENC main event format: four groups of six in a round-robin best-of-one group stage, top 16 advance to single-elimination best-of-three, best-of-five grand final. ESL FACEIT Group organizes it, the same structure that runs IEM events, so production will be serious.
The interesting thing about watching an ENC match is that the storyline is already built in. You know these players from their club teams. Watching them compete under a national flag, alongside teammates they do not practice with daily, against players from other countries is a different kind of CS2 than the weekly tier 1 circuit. The rosters are going to surprise you.
